Industry codes are used by Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) to classified the business nature of taxpayers for various purposes, including tax audit selection. Taxpayers are required to enter an industry code that best describes their business.

In 2012, industry codes are changed quite dramatically. Industries are categorized as follows:

  1. Construction
  2. Manufacturing
  3. Natural resource industries
  4. Professions
  5. Sales
  6. Services
  7. Wholesales
